After the video we shared last week showing how to create a model rock face using paper mache, Allan Downes dropped me a line with his method for creating model rock faces. It’s similar to the one shown in the video, but it’s much much quicker. It’s also remarkably easy to describe too!
These rock faces, as seen in the photo’s are immensely strong, yet light as a feather and are made from screwed up tissue paper. The tissue paper is then unravelled, coloured with whatever paints you have to hand, but poster paints would do just fine. Add the darker shades first, followed by lighter & darker colours being dry brushed over the top to highlight the crackes & sharp edges of the rock face.
