Water features come in all shapes and sizes in the real world, and modelling them in a to a satisfactory level can often be quite challenging when building a model railway layout. In this tutorial video, you can learn how to create a pond for your layout using a polystyrene sheet, a little decorators filler, paint, ground cover and a two-part, pour on epoxy resin varnish called Envirotex, but you could use Deluxe Materials Solid Water, or just use lots of coats of a water based gloss varnish too.
Anyway, this video walks you through the entire process.
If you don’t fancy going down the epoxy resin route, I have another idea which might work, using the cellophane wrapping from a greeting card… I’ll try and test it out over the coming weeks and let you know how I get on!
